Her father died when she was a young child and her mom later married Ralph Leonard, the man she would call dad for the rest of her life. She graduated from Cherry Creek High School in Denver in 1955 and would meet the love of her life, Charlie, that same year. She and Charlie would marry in 1957 and proceed to have four children: Marie, Charles, David, and Michael as they lived in Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Colorado.
The greatest joy of her life was to be a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed raising her children and was always ready to have an adventure with them. Her grandchildren brought her even more pleasure and was thrilled that they were a part of her life as they grew up.
Food was an important part of life, especially dining out. In fact, she never met a restaurant she didn’t like. She, also, was a practical joker who received as well as she gave. She was always ready to stick someone else’s finger into the butter or pass (literally) the dinner rolls.
As she grew older and entered retirement she enjoyed traveling. She was ready and willing to go look at the rocks in Utah, camping on the Mesa, or to go anywhere else she could convince Charlie to go.
Her greatest love, in addition to Charlie and her children, was for Jesus her Savior. She enjoyed time in God’s word, Bible study, serving God, and being a part of Redlands Community Church for over 44 years. She believed that Jesus died for her sins and because of that belief that she would (and is) in heaven upon her death. She also would challenge everyone of us who read these words to consider the claims of Jesus as Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charlie; her children: Marie (Ken), Charles (Jody), David (Angie), and Michael (Tanya); fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is, also, survived by her sister CA and brothers Ralph (Melody) and Bob (Jane).
The celebration of her life will be Friday, April 26 at 10 am at Redlands Community Church, 2327 Broadway.
She will be interred at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado on May 7 at 1pm.
