

Mr. Highsmith is survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly Porter, husband Michael Porter; Theresa Kaualoka, husband John and John Hull. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Willie Rose Highsmith, wife, Alice Highsmith, daughters Patricia Hull and Joyce Bryant.
Mr. Highsmith was born in Sweetwater on July 8, 1927. He traveled with his family to San Antonio, where he graduated from high school and then joined the military. He enlisted in both the Army and Air Force and served proudly in the Korean War. He returned to graduate from the University of Texas with a Bachelors of Business Administration. He spent his life as a machinist working on aircraft, and helicopters in the private sector and has two patents to his name. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, TX
Mr. Highsmith loved his family and was deeply devoted to his wife. He was a man of high moral character and believed in truth and honesty. He was an avid hunter and loved being outside either hunting or in the garden in his home with Alice.
Funeral service will be Friday April, 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church 122 North Center Street, Grand Prairie with Pastor Kathryn Strempke officiating burial will follow at DFW National with Military Honors.
