Allene Olsen Johnson

Allene Olsen Johnson of Grand Prairie, Texas, age 93, died Saturday May 7, 2022, from complications due to a fall. She was born in San Angelo, Texas, and grew up as an active part of a family dairy farm before graduation from Odessa High School in 1947. She married her great love Charles in 1948 and became a remarkable mother and homemaker in Grand Prairie, Texas. She loved singing soprano in the church choir, traveling and camping out with family, mothering her husband’s Explorer Post scouts, cooking wonderful meals for family holiday gatherings as well as an occasional trip to Las Vegas with her siblings or a quick trip to Winstar to select her “lucky” winning slot machine. Her support for her family was a force of nature. Education was paramount, and she was very proud of her children all attaining advanced degrees. Allene was preceded in death by her siblings and her niece Marene who was like a sister, and by her husband of 66 years, Charles C. Johnson. Her children, Becky Johnson and David Russell, Nancy and Michael Coe, Gary and Ellen Johnson, and grandson James Johnson and Angela Edwards, respectfully request donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers (https://alz.org) Visitation at Bean Massey Burge funeral home (2951 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, TX 75052) will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday May 12, 2022 and graveside services at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211) on May 17, 2022 at 9:15 am.
