

Alma grew up in Des Moines, IA. She married Orley “Ike” Shepherd and they had a son in 1954. After 2 years the family moved to Texas for a change of climate. Alma worked in the shipping department for LTV for 22 years. She retired from LTV in her late forties. After retiring she became a member of the LTV Retiree Club.
Alma enjoyed taking cruises and going on trips with the LTV Retiree Club. She was a strong but sweet woman. A good wife and mother, she never talked bad about anyone and never cursed. She liked playing poker, being outside and working in her yard. She maintained her yard herself till she was almost 80.
Her favorite color was pink and she collected angels. Alma also loved football, it didn’t matter what team was playing, yet she was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. She was very strong willed and an excellent cook. Her friends were always asking her to make them potato salad. Alma had a strong faith and was a Baptist Church member till her health prevented her from attending.
Almas is preceded in death by her husband Orley Shepherd and daughter Cindy Shepherd.
She is survived by her son Mike Shepherd; grandchildren Amanda Shepherd, Kenneth Shepherd and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home from 5-9pm.
Graveside service will be held at Southland Memorial Park on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 1pm.
