To my father in law. Thank you for accepting me in the Garza family as I love your son Andres more today then when I 1st meet him.  You will be deeply missed. What I will miss most: I always had your chair ready when you came to the house for a cook out and made sure your were always comfortable. I will miss doing that for you. You always told me you loved me once I left you and I said I love you to.  I will miss those words. I'll miss your laugh and most of all your silly, crazy jokes. My heart was shattered in a million pieces when I found out how sick you were and how serious this was. I feel so distant from the family, you and grandma were one of the few who actually reached out towards me after my parents divorce and made it known I was still loved and part of the family I'll never forget that. I miss you and will cherish my childhood memories forever, you were the best grandfather any kid could have asked for. I love you and thank you for accepting me as your grandchild.

I'm thankful to have Andy as my grandfather and he always use to make me laugh with his silly jokes, I miss him a lot, love you grandpa.

Oh grandpa... I'm gonna miss your jokes, your laugh, your sweet kisses on my cheek every time you have me a hug and I'm gonna miss so much more. I have always been so proud to call you my grandpa. The strongest man I have ever known. You now join my Rodriguez grandparents in heaven as the protective angel of this family. I can't believe I'll never again hear you say 'aahh Christina's here' every time I go over to the house. I love you so much grandpa. May you finally rest in peace.

It is my privilege to know Mr. Garza' son, Andy, and his wife Angelina, who I worked with.  I remember a party at Andy and Angelina's new home where I got to meet the Garza family.  My heart goes out to you all.  You are in my thoughts and prayers in this time of sorrow.

If I could of given you one thing in life, it would of been the ability to see yourself as others see you. Then you would of been able to realize what a truly special person you were and still are to everyone around you. We all have our personal and special memories that will be in our hearts and minds. I am doing my best to fulfill your wishes. I am fighting to protect our country and the flag and I am fighting to come back home safely just like you asked. I will be sure to continue taking care of your granddaughter Amy and do my best to help out your family as much as I can. Take care of yourself up there.

Just for you, I will now share an old sailors poem. I hope you read it and enjoy it every chance you get. 

The Old Salt was a special man who came along in a time
when he was needed most.

A time that is now gone forever.
When men believed and sacrificed, when hero's walked the earth in mass.

When patriotism was not just a word
but,
by what men lived and judged the worth of each, 
a man who lived a life most of us cannot comprehend. 

An era now gone as this warriors tour of duty ends at this station,

To my dear Grandpa, I miss you so much and will always remember you. Your jokes, encouragement, support, and wonderful countless stories you would tell me. Justin will come back from deployment and you will be so proud of him, he's is protecting the flag just like you asked. I'm so, so grateful you got to see us get married, that means everything to us. We will take care of the love of your life, Grandma. She is in good hands. I know you're in a better place now where you can enjoy a good session of fishing and drinking a nice cold budlight. You were the best Grandpa I could have ever asked for. You mean so much to me and always will. This family will continue on as best we can and make you proud. You're my guardian angel now and I know you will keep me and the whole family safe. We love you Grandpa.

Tio, it seems that everybody will say something about fishing because we all know you loved to go fishing! I hope you find dad and the both of you can go fishing together again. Love you, and from one sailor to another, Fair Winds and Following Seas.
