Andrew is survived by sons Andrew Havel Jr (Celia) and David Havel (Melinda), Ray Havel (Brother), one granddaughter, four step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wives Lottie (1977) and Lee Marie (2019).
Andrew was born in Caldwell Texas on August 7, 1929 to Frank and Anna Havel. He worked for the Texas A&M college system for a brief time out of high school before enlisting in the Air Force at the age of 19. During a distinguished 20-year career, he met and married Lottie Plunkert in 1952 with whom they had two sons. He served in Fairbanks Alaska and Colorado before a deployment in Sado Shima Japan as a radar technician. He finished his military career in Texarkana Arkansas in 1968 where he moved his family to Grand Prairie Texas to work for a short time at LTV in their aeronautics division. Following his passion for all things automotive, he worked as a shop manager for JC Penney’s automotive before opening Andy’s Exxon in Grand Prairie and running that business along with a wrecker business for many years.
He met and married his second wife, Lee Marie Edds, in 1980 and, upon retirement, followed his dream by moving to Cedar Creek Lake where he spent his time fishing, gardening and enjoying quiet outdoor activities.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie with internment to follow at Southland Memorial Cemetery at 12:30.
In lieu of flowers during this holiday season, the family asks that you make a donation to the Salvation Army.
