Mrs. Aughenbaugh was my English teacher in the early 90's. The patience she showed for us kids was amazing. The one thing that I'll never forget is her calling my home to speak to my mom about one of my classmates passing away after school.My mom was working at the time, so she broke the news with me in the most loving way. I never had a teacher comfort me the way she did that day. May God bless her soul.

Mrs. Aughenbaugh was a great teacher.  Not sure how she put up with my brother and my sister, but glad she stuck around Lee long enough to teach me. Sad to hear about this. Thoughts and prayers with her family.

Warren, not only were Ann and I colleagues at Lee Middle School for more than 30 years, we were good friends. Ann was respected and beloved by all who knew her. My son and daughter always speak so highly of Miss Ziegler. You became one of our friends when you and Ann married. Your presence at our school activities showed your love and support for a career she loved. Ann inspired all of us. She will be missed.

Warren, Barney and I were saddened to hear of Ann's passing, I met her at The Summit, she was a nice lady, she was loved by many as you can see by her Guest Book, each has their own words for her, she and I had one thing in common, caring for Stray cats, in her honor I will continue to do so . I have known Ann since 1976, when I was welcomed to the family at Lee Middle School.  Ann and several others made Lee Middle School an outstanding place to work,.  I think the students knew  we all cared about them. Ann was dedicated to the school , staff and students.  Even when her name changed, I knew how to spell it, thanks to her brother-in-law.
We didn't see each other as often after retiring, but she will always be have a warm spot in my heart.
Warren, all I can say is just remember the good times and be thankful for them.  Keep feeding the stray cats, you never know---------

What an honor it was to know Mrs Zeigler Aughenbaugh.  She was not only a wonderful teacher to my two children at Lee but also a great friend.  After she retired she used to come by my daughter's garage sales and sit and visit and so many times we would see her at Krogers doing her shopping.  My sympathy to Warren and her family.  She was a very special lady.

Uncle Warren...your Ann touched our family deeply. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We had the honor of meeting her at a family 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Warren as you can see from the tributes Ann (or as I always called Ms. Ziegler) left an impact on many people.  I remember in 1971 several of us wise guys were going to test the young teacher's patience. To our surprise she wasn't going to put-up with our shenanigans. One day she summoned us to the hallway where Principal Ray Fuller was waiting with his trusty paddle. Even more to our surprise, she took the paddle from Mr. Fuller and delivered a no nonsense swat to each of us. From then on this crew had Ms. Ziegler's undivided attention, respect and admiration.  The lessons she taught us are why I can call her one of my favorite teachers. She will be missed but always remembered!

My deepest sympathies to the family. Ms.Ziegler taught her students with passion and enthusiasm. She will be remember fondly by all her students and especially me.

Ms. Ziegler was one of favorite teachers.  I had her for English at Lee.  Prayers and heartfelt sympathy for her family and many students whose lives she touched.

Ms. Ziegler's legacy lives on through the many lives she touched through teaching. Thanks for the inspiration for English through your enthusiastic teaching. I'm sure there are hundreds of former students that can tell you they learned (and still remember) the prepositions that she was so fond of. Teaching greatness!

Many of the years Ann was at Lee, I was at Jefferson. We worked together often, and she was always a breath of fresh air. She taught me so much about authentic teaching. She was grounded, brilliant, and shared so kindly. We've missed her in the teaching ranks; now we shall miss her in our hearts as well. God speed, Ann.

Warren, so sorry to hear of your loss via Bardo's emails.  I read the 25 guest book entries that have been made so far.
I also don't think I ever had the pleasure of meeting Ann but my eyes got a little blurry when I read them (actually even more as I am writing this).  I remember when one of my teachers in high school called me when he wandered what I was going to do after graduating from high school.  He convinced me to apply to Michigan State instead of a technical trade school.  What a difference he made in my life as I know Ann must have made in many peoples lives. You will be talking about her many many times in the coming weeks and it will get easier with time.  I hope to see you sometime in maybe a couple of months and talk about the times we had at Lockheed or maybe about cars.

So sorry about the loss of your sister Carolyn.  I never met Ann but I know she must have been enough like you to have been an exceptionally special person.  The gift of teaching runs strong and deep in your family and I know Ann's loss will be felt by many.  You all are in my prayers.

As a fellow English teacher in Grand Prairie , I knew her as a most dedicated and highly respected professional.  She was always kind and sincere in our meetings.  She impacted many.

I have lost 2 loves in my life.  The first was 17 years ago, and recently my mother.  Time eventually cures all pain.  My mother's passing still hurts, but less each day.  Your pain will also slowly disappear as well.  To honor your request to feed stray cats in lieu of flowers, I will feed all stray animals (cats, dogs, skunks, possums and coyotes) around the shop.

The shop is always open to friends and neighbors.  I expect to see you often.  Beer and cold drinks are always available.  You have many good and loyal friends from Lockheed and the Hughes family.  Use them in your time of loss.

Ann, you were my most favorite teacher!!  I loved all your stories of New Orleans and what you taught me is being passed along to the English students I encounter as a sub in the GPISD. I regret not seeing you one last time before you passed, but your smile & life lessons will stay with me forever. God Bless you always!

She touched so many peoples lives she will be truly missed

Miss Zeigler is the reason I became a teacher.  I was blessed to not only be in her class but she mentored me when I rerurned to Lee Middle School to teach alongside her. She was a wondeful lady.

I don't think I ever had the pleasure of meeting Ann. But knowing you Carolyn and having meet your Mother, Ann had a blessed family. I send my deepest sympathy and love to you.

I have so many wonderful memories of Miss Ziegler at Lee Middle School (1977-80).  She was so wonderful with her students!  She touched so many lives!  May your family realize the legacy she left on this earth!

I was so sorry to hear about Miss Ziegler's passing.  She was my favorite English teacher at Lee Middle School back in 1978 - 1979.  I will always remember everything she taught me!  She is the reason I love grammar to this day!!!

I loved Miss Ziegler, later Mrs. Aughenbaugh. I was fortunate enough to be a student at Lee Middle School and later in life became the school secretary under the direction of principal, Gary Gilbreath and Jerry Winn. Mrs. Aughenbaugh was a delightful person always sharing a good piece of advice or a quilting idea. She always inspired me to work hard and to achieve goals. I loved her sense of humor and her beautiful quilts. I know she was so proud when she and Mr. Aughenbaugh got married even though it took me a few attempts to spell her new name correctly. I am so sorry to hear about Ann.   I have so many fond memories of her, from my time as principal of Lee Middle School (1982-1986).  She was a very dedicated teacher who showed so much compassion for her students.  She was always an inspiration to her students, and the faculty as well. We were brokenhearted to hear about the loss of Ann. She was a sweet and gentle  soul and we will miss her at our family gatherings. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I am daily feeding eight stray cats in remembrance of Ann. We love you!

Oh! I am so sorry to see this! I am instantly transported to that sunny classroom at the east end of the upstairs hall. 6th period English, 7th grade, Lee Junior High, 1972-73. She remains one of my very favorite teachers and is the editor in my head. She insisted on excellence from us. I never take up a pen or use a keyboard without employing language tools that she ingrained in my brain.  I instantly recognize prepositions (there were 66 on the list for weekly tests/drills), pronouns and "to be" verbs. Absorbing her love of language and love for people made even diagramming sentences something we wanted to do well - if only to bask in the glow of her praise.  I am moved to tears by her passing, and I only spent one hour per day for one school year with her almost 40 years ago. My heart breaks for the sorrow of those closest to her.

Ann was a delight to me, my Mom, my children, and my grandchildren. She was a school teacher at heart years after her retirement. She engaged the youngest of my loved ones and gave them her undivided attention.  She did the same for my Mother. Loved her!  Sympathy and peace to you, Warren.

I am so saddened about the loss of Ann. I was fortunate to work closely with her for 25+ years at Lee--many years as her "next door neighbor" upstairs. You will never understand how much she meant to me. Ann was my supportive, generous, and knowledgeable mentor and colleague. We shared many challenging times and lots of happy times through the years. It would be difficult to determine the number of Lee students and teachers influenced by Ann. One of the most influential teachers in my life was Ann Ziegler.  She not only taught at an exceptionally high level, but she cared.  She was an excellent motivator and aspired to make all her students the most intelligent and articulate people they could be.  I value the fundamental learning traits she taught me to this very day.   Ann was an extraordinary person!  I send my deepest sympathies to Warren and his entire family.

My deepest sympathy to Ann's husband and sister. For a decade 40 years ago, I taught across the hall from Ann at Lee Jr Hi/ Middle School.  She was such an encourager and friend to me.
