Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, and one of the kindest souls many people were blessed to know. He is survived by his loving mother, Elida Luna; his sisters, Yolanda Garcia, Mirta Trevino, Nora Flores, and Flora Escobar; along with his brother-in-law’s, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
For more than 25 years, Mike worked as a bartender, a job he truly loved because it allowed him to connect with people, make them laugh, and enjoy the music and energy of life. Whether working at AT&T Stadium, Dos Equis Pavillion, Deep Ellum, or other major events around Dallas, he especially loved the music concerts that came with the job as he was also a talented DJ. Music was one of his great joys, and he loved spending time with friends, jamming out on his turntables, attending live outdoor concerts, and soaking up the summer sun by the pool.
Mike dreamed of becoming a stand-up comedian and had a natural gift for making people smile. His favorite phrase, “So… check this out,” usually meant a joke, story, or unforgettable conversation was about to follow. He was always smiling, always positive, and always full of life. He truly was a kid at heart.
More than anything, Mike had a heart for people. He was the kind of person others turned to when they needed someone to talk to because he listened without judgment and cared deeply for others. His compassion extended especially to the homeless community in downtown Dallas. After long shifts in Deep Ellum, he would often give away his own coats, shoes, or food to those in need, never expecting anything in return. He also made it his mission to drop off tents and sleeping bags when the weather was extreme.
Mike lived with joy, generosity, humor, and love. His presence lit up every room, and his laughter will echo in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Though he has left this earth, his spirit, kindness, and memories will live on forever.
