

Mr. Jelly was born July 31, 1937 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Alton Louis Jelly and Dorothy Agnes Jelly.
He was a 27-year veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Era. He received the
Purple Heart and the Metal of Honor. He was wounded twice and continued to serve. He received many
awards for his dedication to The United States of America. December 19, 1969, he graduated from the
Military Airlift Command Officer Academy at Norton Airforce Base, California. “Master Sargent Jelly’s
diplomacy, experience, and persuasive ability are his greatest assets and strengths. He is dedicated to
the United States Air Force and its way of life.” Officially reported by Deputy Chief SMSgt Ruffin L. Rhodes
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nonah Poole; brother, Arnold Jelly; son, Allen Hill
Jelly; and son, Arthur Jelly, Jr.
Arthur is survived by his loving fiancé, Diann Reese; their constant traveling companion, Barbie Stegman; sisters, Dottie Karst and Cheryl Mathieu; and brother, Alton Richard Mathieu all of Charleston, South Carolina; son, Alton Jelly; and daughter, Patricia Welt.
A memorial and celebration of life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. April 14, 2022 under the direction of
Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, Texas. Inurnment will follow
immediately in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas. Officiating Chaplin Bruce Ruiz, Three Oaks Hospice and music by Rev DeDe
Jones and Carolyn Landers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors, The Wall – Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Fund or any military organization of your choice.
