

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 3, 1921. He graduated from the University of Detroit with degrees in industrial engineering and mechanical engineering. He was married to Jeanette Lohn Martin on August 2, 1947.
He served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. During the post war period, Art was an officer in the command headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur located in Japan.
Art practiced his profession in the aeronautics and aerospace fields for many years. He was employed with Chance Vought and successor companies from the time that the company moved into the Dallas area in the late forties until his retirement decades later. He participated in the advancement of aircraft from propeller propulsion to the space shuttle.
Art’s passions were his family and woodworking.
For several years, Art and his wife lead the youth fellowship program at the First Methodist Church in Grand Prairie.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanette Martin, son Larry Lohn Martin (Donna), daughter Melody Danhof (Gary), son Karl Lohn Martin (Andy), grandchildren Pamela Christine Perez (Nicholas), Brittany Pillers (Brian), Katie Noel Cromeans (Joseph), Philip Hunter Danhof, Danielle Meri Martin and many great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Fredrick Theodore Martin and Madge Martin, and his sister Madge Ziessow.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 122 North Center Street, Grand Prairie, Texas at 12:00 noon on Monday, September 28, 2015.
