One of our mom’s sweet friends called her a “ special lady “ and she certainly lived up to the title.
Aurora Jacinto was born in Dallas, Texas on December 17, 1940 and went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2025. She is predeceased by her husband, Freddie Jacinto of 66 years and her parents, Isidro and Ninfa Cantu. She is survived by her children Yolanda Fischetti of Georgetown, Texas, Freddie Jacinto, Jr. of Ovilla, Texas and Gloria Hanks of Grand Prairie, Texas and their respective spouses, James, Jeanette and Mark. Aurora was extremely proud of her children, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Aurora, who was one of twelve children, is survived by three loving sisters, Helen Lozano of Dallas, Consuelo Sauceda and Betsy Rodriguez of Arlington, Texas and her brother, Roy Cantu of Dallas.
Aurora was known affectionately as Mom, Mama, Mamaw and Rory. She was described as a beautiful and smart woman who, as a young girl, was double promoted during her early school career and continued later to excel academically and professionally.
Aurora harnessed her entrepreneurial spirit by opening Aurora’s Boutique for several years with her husband; it was located in downtown Grand Prairie. She had a history of working for small businesses prior to the boutique.
In time, Aurora earned her bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University alongside her son, Freddie Jr.
She spent the majority of her employment with GPISD where she also worked with both daughters, Yolanda and Gloria. In later years, she worked in the Personnel Department and then as a teacher where she worked passionately teaching and nurturing children. Her love for children was also demonstrated in her church work where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the nursery.
Her love for God was instilled in her children and grandchildren. There was not one child who didn’t feel special, loved, noticed, listened to, championed, cared for and spoiled by Mom/Mamaw. She made every child feel as though they mattered.
Aurora had a deep love for God and family which left a lasting imprint on those who will forever remember her as a very “special lady.”
