On January 5, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas, Charles and Nadine Brown welcomed the arrival of Rebecca Sue, a beautiful baby girl with lots of dark curly hair. Becky immediately became the subject of many photo opportunities including one award winning photograph.

Becky attended school for one year in Wichita, Kansas before the family moved South to Grand Prairie, Texas. Becky continued her education here until graduating in 1975 from South Grand Prairie High School. During high school Becky was a beloved regular babysitter for several family friends, she also worked part time at Six Flags Over Texas. Once she completed high school, she continued her education by taking some courses at Tarrant County Junior College, one of which included auto mechanics.

She spent several years working in different fields but found her true passion when she joined the Special Education team at Sam Houston High School. She also enjoyed her part time position with Texas Rangers Baseball. Here she quickly became familiar with all of the players names and positions and would be sure to let them know when they did well and when they could have done better.

Although Becky had a devotion to her job, her real devotion was to her family. She took much pride in her kids and grandchildren. In 1981 she welcomed her first child, Renae Elizabeth, 1982 Roy Darryl arrived and in 1984 Rachel Annette made her family complete. These 3 presented her with challenges, an extremely busy life and blessings all that helped to foster her into the strong person she was. Most of all these 3 brought her tremendous joy.

During her time growing up in the youth group, Becky enjoyed many yearly mission trips where she traveled to other churches and taught Vacation Bible School classes. She loved so much mentoring and serving with others at the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington, Texas where her Christian example was always on display. She co-taught the 5th grade class for many years. She was always eager to volunteer anyway that she could and it was through this service she developed and maintained some very special relationships. Her church family was extremely important to her. In 2005 Becky was promoted to “MeMaw” when Ian came along followed by Alexis, Makaila, Dominick, Elijah, Katelyn, Josiah and Ada. This was a roll she assumed with much joy. She enjoyed visits and activities with the grandkids and never missed an opportunity to share stories about her grandchildren and children.

Becky’s presence will certainly be missed by her family, children; Renae (Natan), Roy (Tammi), Rachel (Jonathan), Mother, Nadine, Sister-in-Law Lisa, Brother Steve (Robin), Sister Ann (David), 8 grandchildren, 6 grand dogs, 15 nieces/nephews, 16 great nieces/nephews many many extended relatives and close friends. She is proceeded in death by her Father, Charlie, brother, Stanley and great nephew Bryant.

Celebration of Life is scheduled on Friday, June 26th with a visitation from 1:00-2:00pm at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, 6102 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Texas 76016, service at 2:00pm and a private burial will follow. MASKS are REQUIRED for all services!

Becky will always have a special place in our hearts. In 1961 she came to Eagleville Missouri to be a flower girl in our wedding. She was so precious.

I always looked forward to all the updates of the family each year. Thanks to Nadine we were still part of this wonderful family even though miles apart.

Wish we could be there to give you all hugs and much love. We are keeping distance due to virus and certainly don’t want to bring anything harmful to any of you. But know that we are thinking of you and love you so much.

Nadine, Ann, and family,

I was so shocked to hear of the sad news about Becky.

I remember looking through Grandma Rubye (Petry) Mathes' photos and seeing the yearly Christmas photos of your beautiful family.

My prayers are with you and virtual hugs for you all.
