Betty Margaret Newberry (White) was born in Dallas on June, 8 1924. She passed away on March 27, 2017. She was a lifelong resident of Grand Prairie and a member of First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Highland Park High School. Betty was a true “Rosie the Riveter” running a lathe at the North American plant during WWII. She married the love of her life, Bill Newberry on Sept. 2, 1944 at Fort Bliss. They raised 3 children, a son and two daughters. She personified dedication, providing for her family by working at Kmart for 27 yrs. Her life was lived through strong values and a deep love of family. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her mother, May Ruth Griffin and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Larry Newberry; daughters, Becky Leatherwood; and Melinda Kirk & husband Perry. Also, brother James Griffin & wife Ruth. Also 8 grandsons and 1 granddaughter & 19 great-grandchildren.
