Carmilla “Car” Janice Scott died at the age of 84 years old. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ruth and Paul Petranek. Car graduated from Michigan State University, where she met her husband, Ira.
Her proudest moments in life were her long marriage to Ira, 59 and ½ years; traveling north to see family during the holidays, having a successful ceramics shop, and earning her master’s degree in accounting. Being a member of Immaculate Conception filled her with joy and purpose. She was part of the choir, the Altar Society, and served on the finance committee for many years. Car served as a National Official in the US Figure Skating Association. She served as the very first Internal Auditor for the City of Grand Prairie. After her retirement, Car and Ira would travel all over the continental US. She served as the President of her local Holiday Rambler Chapter and as Holiday Rambler field staff on caravans and adventures. Car was also a survivor of pancreatic cancer.
Car loved doing crafts, counted-cross stitch, ceramics, puzzles, and reading historical fiction and biographies.
Car loved seeing her children and grandchildren grow and become well-rounded adults. She was interested in seeing what they have done and will continue to do.
Car is survived by her children: Janet Maher, Lynette Scott, Matthew Scott and their spouses Phillip Maher and Jerry Hobson - Scott; Her grandchildren Jarrard Weathersby, Zuzanna Maher and Marissa Maher
Car’s goal in life was to show God’s love for others, listen to and care for others, and to laugh a lot!
Car will be remembered as someone who listened, had a strong faith, showed care and kindness to all, her laughter, and her humility
