Charles David "Dave" Wheelis of DeSoto, TX was born in Overton, TX on January 4, 1952 and went to be with his Lord on December 24, 2020. He died at the age of 68 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He attended Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, TX.
On November 8, 2008, Dave married his love (Jeanette) of many years. Dave cherished his wife (Jeanette), stepchildren (Rick and Jamie), and grandchildren (Roman, Bryce, and Hunter).
Dave graduated from Seminole High School in Seminole, TX before entering the Air Force. After leaving the military, he attended the University of Houston in Houston, TX. Dave worked at NCR Corporation in Richardson, TX before going to work at Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) in Dallas, TX as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist where he retired in 2006.
Dave enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dave enjoyed family vacations to Hawaii; Branson, MO; New Orleans, LA; Saint Kitts; Disney World, Orlando, FL; Galveston, TX; Caribbean cruises; and many more.
Dave is survived by his wife, Jeanette Wheelis; stepson, Richard Darr and wife, Lynn and son, Hunter of Austin, TX; stepdaughter, Jamie Darr-Hall and husband, Joe and sons, Roman and Bryce of Katy, TX; sister, Patricia (Wheelis) Bullard of Bullard, TX; brother, Lee Wheelis and wife, Marie of Luling, TX; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; 3 great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; and 1 great-great-niece.
Dave was preceded in death by his loving parents, Barbara (Lee) Wheelis and Gerald Dean Wheelis; brother-in-law, Royce Bullard; and grandmother, Cecil (Gibson) Lee and aunt, Norma (Lee) Hurst both who lost their battle with Alzheimer’s.
A visitation for Dave will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Inglewood Baptist Church, 1901 South Carrier Parkway, Grand Prairie, TX 75051. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow at 2:15 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
