Chase Randolph Buie, age 37, of Arlington, TX passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, surrounded by family and friends at Medical City Arlington after a lengthy illness. He was born in Arlington, TX on November 22, 1985, to Brett and Mickie Buie.
Chase graduated from Midlothian High School and went on to work at Triumph Aerostructures (Vought). He began his career as an aircraft assembler on January 18, 2005, and joined the UAW’s Local 848 shortly thereafter on May 19, 2005. Always a solid union member, he joined 848’s leadership as a fill-in Steward on January 31, 2012, and was officially elected Steward on July 10, 2013. He always fought for his union Brothers and Sisters and loved representing them in a fair and just manner. On May 18, 2014, he was sworn in as UAW Local 848’s 1st Vice President. He held that office for one term and became the youngest President in Local 848’s history on June 25, 2017, at only 31 years of age. Chase was immediately tossed in the middle of contentious negotiations where he maintained a cool head and demonstrated his immense leadership qualities. He was laid off on August 17, 2021, upon the closure of his plant.
Chase had a love for fishing and the outdoors, especially bass fishing. His personal best was “Lucy,” a 10.77-pound bass that he caught in 2017. He was known by his classmates as a card trick enthusiast. He loved to amaze people with his skills using only a deck of cards and his charm. He also loved gardening and planting things that had a use, a purpose beyond just being beautiful.
Chase was an organ donor; upon his passing, he was still able to help numerous people with his gifts. He had a giver’s heart and never asked for anything in return, only to help others and see them happy or successful.
Chase is survived by his wife-to-be, Lindsay Alexander of Arlington, TX; father Brett Buie of Mansfield, TX; mother Mickie Buie of Grand Prairie, TX; brother Curtis (Amber) Buie of Farmers Branch, TX; sister Rachel (Ken) Pruitt of Hutchins, TX; nephews Eban Buie, Vaughan Buie, and Graysen Pruitt; grandfather Malcolm Morrow; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many dear friends.
We will honor Chase’s memory with a come-and-go gathering of those whose lives were touched by him. This will not be a formal service, but rather a place for everyone who knew and loved Chase to simply come together, meet with others, and share memories – whether that be with a few select people or at the mic/podium for everyone present.
