Constance L. Porter
April 23, 1947 – April 5, 2019
Constance “Connee” Edwards-Porter, 71, of Grand Prairie, Texas, formerly of High Ridge, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on April 5, 2019. Born April 23, 1947, in Ironton, Missouri, she is preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Elaine (Cook) Edwards of St. Ann, Missouri, her sister Jane Marie (Edwards) Lewis, and brother John Alvin Edwards.
Connee was so full of life and had a smile and a personality that could light up any room. She did not know a stranger and she thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. She was like a magnet and people were drawn to her; especially children. Connee had a knack for calming a fussy baby and making them laugh or smile; she truly had a heart for children. She could spend countless hours playing with her grandchildren, and would play anything that they wanted to play. She happily gave them her undivided attention. She was even quoted as saying that she is their favorite toy.
She loved the beach and enjoyed traveling to St. Thomas with her husband, Marty. The two also loved visiting New Orleans, which quickly became one of Connee’s favorite places to be. She appreciated the history, the food and architecture.
Survivors include her loving husband and caregiver, John Martin “Marty” Porter of Texas, her three children, Richard “Rich” (Rhonda) Hilton of Missouri, and Angela (Daniel) Brooks of Texas and John-Michael Edwards (Fiancée Crystal) of Texas. Grandchildren, Tiffinie (Ken) Berend, Tony Hilton, Chris Brooks, Brandon (Cynthia) Brooks, Taylor Brooks, Jacob Edwards and Mackenzie Edwards. Plus 2 great grandchildren Joey and Tyler Berend. Her sisters and brothers: Becky (Tony) Cafazza, Kathy (Rob) Dunlap, Tony (Peggy) Edwards, Mike (Kelley) Edwards, her beloved Aunt and Uncle, Charmaine and Floyd McFarland her best friend Barbara (Mike) Rhodes and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and cousins. Memorial services will be held at Crossroads Christian Church, 6450 S. State Highway 360, Grand Prairie TX 75052 on April 27, 2019 at 11 a.m. and Friedens United Church of Christ, 313 E. My dear Lone Star sister, short of stature yet Grande of the hugs. I miss you Connee as my mind floods with memories. I have been encouraged by your words and tickled by your sarcasm. You were my Joan Rivers, Phyllis Diller, and Lily Tomlin. You were our constant family thread that ran between all of its extensions. I will cherish our recent talks and I still feel the "rib flexing" last embrace. As with every last embrace, this one was also a 'see you later'. Looking forward to no more tears and a Grand Reunion. Love, Tony Joe

Precious Connee, It has been and always will be an honor being your cousin. We've shared much laughter and many tears through these 61 years past. Our sons grew up together and still hold each other as dear as I've always held you. You are deeply missed in all ways possible.
