David Thomas

David Thomas (Thomachayan) was born in Payyampallil family, in Vazhoor, Kerala on October 24th, 1924 to late David David and Rachel David. He was born and brought up in a traditional Orthodox family. He was born as the 6th of eight kids. He completed secondary high school, and worked helping his parents in their land. Later he worked as supervisor at a plantation. In 1955 he married Sosamma Thomas, daughter of late Varkey (pappychan) and Sosamma Varkey from Thottunkal family, Nedungadappally. David and Sosamma had 5 daughters: Rachel Thomas (Leelammma), Susamma Thomas, Aleyamma Thomas (Mollykutty), Suja Alex, and Sumi Mathew. In March 2001, he moved to United States to join his wife and eldest daughter. July 15, 2001 he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized. The last 12 years, he was an avid member of IPC Ebenezer, Irving. On October 31st, 2013 at 1:40 PM, he found peace and went with the Lord. He was a great husband, exceptional father and loving and tender grandfather. He worked hard to assure a secured life for his daughters, setting a great example for future generations, living a humble life rooted in family values and strong faith. He had a great sense of humor and never failed to create a smile on other’s face. David is survived by a large family who is mourning the loss of their greatest appachan, but finds peace in the belief that their beloved appachan has found peace and is with the lord.

Survivors: wife Sosamma Thomas, who stood beside him and took great care of him until the last breath., five daughters and son in laws: Rachel Thomas (Leelamma) and John Thomas( Babu), Susan Thomas and Philipose Thomas (jose), Aleyamma Thomas (Mollykuuty) and Thomas Punnoose (Kunju) , Suja Alex and Alex Chandy, Sumy Mathew and George Mathew; grand children: Jestin and Liji Thomas (wife), Julius and Sterlin Thomas (wife), Jensen and Gincy Thomas, Alisha and Abin Thomas., Ajin and Akhil Alex, Albin and Bestin Mathew. Our beloved Appachan will be dearly missed and will live in our hearts and mind forever.
