I only saw Dave a few times over the span of several years, but that didn't stop him from recognizing a quiet loneliness in me that I hadn't even realized myself yet. For the first time in a long time, he made me feel like things were going to get better and that I was capable of having more than just what I was trying to settle for at the time. He encouraged me to be brave enough to let myself be known and, more importantly, he made me feel worthy of being known. If just a few moments with him could make significant impact on my life, I can only imagine the impact he left on all of you who knew him every day. I am sending my most heartfelt condolences.

There will never be the dash between birth and death. David weaver filled everyone’s life with love , help, encouragements, strength. For me he will just be out of sight never gone. There were times in my younger days he brought me back to hope when I was totally broken. I  covered his shirt with my tears and he covered me with love as a close brother. Dave showed love through all he did . He  gave people work and shelter when he was in difficult times.He never said I can’t afford it. He lived the life as I can’t afford not to do good for anyone. God gave him just the wife he needed and together they did life right. Dave not only cared for his parents but everyone’s!.Dave  inspired me to be there for my family as  they grew  old by seeing  him be  there for  everyone sick or in a hospital.David Weaver lived his life so well there’s no place for a dash because he continues throughout all our lives and will continue because of the example he  set. He lived like Jesus  , No doubt He heard a voice say  come my good and faithful servant .Dave never delays when he’s called .

We started with very humble beginnings, a duplex @ 214 SE 13th St Grand Prairie, Tx to this home that love built in Mansfield. Dave designed it on a napkin at a Dennys restaurant in 11 min time. We took them to a builder, who did the plans up, and many loved ones and friends worked with Dave and made this home a reality for 10 years. It was 4400 SF sitting on 2.15 acres. It was filled with, love, and laughter and great memories. Each move after, was important, as it gave us the famiiy we now know and cherish. We have 2 daughters, a son in law, a significant other, 7 grands  with  their families including 8 great grands.

When the person you grew old with is gone, 

There is a kind of loneliness. You can never understand until you lose the person you spend your whole life growing old with. One day you wake up beside the person you love. And never imagine that someday you will wake up without them. You think there will always be another morning.

Another breakfast, another argument, another cup of coffee together. Another night lying beside each other, talking about things that don't really matter. You think you have time until suddenly...You don't...one morning, one of you will. Close your eyes for the last time. And the other will have to open theirs to a life they never wanted. The room will look exactly the same. The curtains will still hang by the window. Their pillow will still be beside yours. Their clothes will still be in the closet. Their shoes will still be where they left them. Everything will look normal except for the person who makes it feel like home will be missing. And that is, when you realize how loud silence can be, you may still wake up and instinctively turn toward them. You may still want to tell them something funny you may still reach for your phone. When something reminds you of them and then you remember, there is no one to call. No one is waiting. No one is coming back. That realization will hurt in ways you never knew a heart could hurt. People will tell you to be strong. They will tell you that time will heal you. They will tell you that you must accept it. And maybe they're right, they will never understand that accepting someone's death doesn't mean your heart stops.

Because how do you stop missing someone who was part of almost every chapter of your life? They were there when your hair was still dark. They were there when your face had fewer wrinkles. They saw you when you were young. When you were struggling. When you were tired. When you were sick. When you were afraid. They saw every version of you. And somehow they still chose you. They became the person you didn't have to pretend around. The person who knew your silence. The person who could tell you were upset without you saying a word. The person whose presence alone could make a difficult day feel easier. And then one day. Their chair is empty. Their side of the bed is cold.  Their voice disappears from the house. And you realize you didnt just lose the love of your life.  You lost your best friend. Your safe place.  Your daily companion.   The person you had plan to grow old with. You will miss the smallest things.  The way they called your name.  The way they complained  about little things.  They way they laughed.  The way they looked at you when they thought you weren't watching.  You will even miss the things you once found annoying.   Because when someone is gone,

Even the things you once wished they would stop doing. Become things you would give anything to experience again.  You would give anything to hear them complain one more time. You would give anything to have one more silly argument. You would give anything to hear them say, "Come here" Just once.  One more time. You will discover that grief isnt always crying sometimes grief is cooking for two before remembering  you're alone. Sometimes its buying their favorite food without thinking.   Sometimes  its walking into a room and expecting to see them there.  Sometimes its hearing a song and suddenly feeling fifty six+years of memories  collapse into one painful moment.  Somethings grief is simply sitting quietly and wishing you could tell them about your day.  Because they were the person

You told everything to. And now you have so much to say...but nowhere to send it. Years may pass...Your tears may become less frequent. You may learn to smile again. You may even laugh without feeling guilty. But there will always be moments when your heart quietly ask "Why couldn't you stay a little longer?" Why couldn't we have had one more year? One more birthday? One more Anniversary?One more Christmas? One more ordinary Sunday morning? Just one more day...You would not ask for eternity. You would only ask for one more ordinary day. Because after losing someone you love, you learn that ordinary days were never ordinary at all. They were the days you were living your greatest blessing.  Growing old together was a privilege.   The gray hair.  The slower steps.   The tired mornings.  The wrinkles around your eyes. The little aches you complained about.  The quiet evenings.  The familiar routines.  None of it was boring.  It was a life you once prayed for.  And perhaps that is why losing your life partner hurts so deeply. Because you're not only the grieving the person.  You're grieving  the future you thought you would still have.

You were supposed to sit beside each other in old age. You were supposed to complain about your aching knees. You were supposed to watch your children grow. You were supposed to laugh about the past. You were supposed to hold hands until neither of you was strong enough to hold on. Sometimes love stays while the person leaves. So if you still have your husband beside you, hold him. If you still have your wife beside you, hold her.  Don't wait for a special occasion.   Don't wait until tomorrow. Don't let a small disagreement steal an entire evening from you. Because one day you may desperately wish you could go back to the day when your biggest problem was something so small.  Tell them you love them.  Tell them you appreciate them.  Forgive them.  Kiss them goodnight.  Hold their hand while you still can.

Because someday...
one hand will remain empty.
One side of the bed will remain untouched.
One voice will become a memory.
And the person left behind
will carry a love so deep
that even death cannot destroy it.
They may continue living.
They may continue smiling.
They may continue walking forward.
But somewhere inside them
will always be the home
where the two of them once lived together.
And when the night becomes quiet...
they may close their eyes,
reach across the empty bed,
and whisper,
"I still love you."
Not because they expect an answer.
But because some love
doesn't know how to stop.
Some love survives the funeral.
It survives the silence.
It survives the years.
It survives death.
And perhaps the hardest part
of loving someone until old age...
is knowing that someday,
one of you will have to live
with the unbearable privilege
of remembering a love
that the other can no longer physically share.
So while you still have each other...
love gently.
Forgive quickly.
Hold tightly.
And never underestimate
the beauty of simply growing old together.
Because one day,
you may look back through tears
and realize...
the life you thought was ordinary
was actually the life
you would give anything
to live one more time.

A company that I work with wrote the following message to me.  " Our buyer at one of our best customers lost her father this week.  Fernando and I have kept up with Lisa and her Fathers treatment. All I see when I think of this man is that wonderful sparkle in his eye and that smile he will be missed

David was always so much fun to be around. I don’t ever remember seeing him without a smile or just laughing. Or that twinkle in his eyes when he was teasing and joking. I have so many great memories of the youth group at church and of his parents hosting all of us at their home on various occasions. 

He was such a caring and giving person. He surprised me by showing up when my mother was in hospice and within one day of passing. He just came to sit with me and let me know he knew what I was going through. He stayed for hours and his presence brought peace to my spirit. I will never forget that. 

David’s passing is difficult and painful for his family and friends. But we are thankful for the precious memories that we each have and take comfort in the assurance that he is with Jesus. He ran his race well.

My Dearest Dave,    I have sat and thought about what I should write for over a week. Here we are 56 years 8 Mos and 19 days into our greatest love.  Somehow, I never thought of facing my tomorrows without you. Yet, here I am.  Broken and glued together repeatedly. You always loved E6000. By God's grace, I/We will stand, not without you my love as you will forever be with each of us.  You have taught us necessities in life and teaching us strength in sending you home to family and our loving Saviour.  The kids, grandkids and even great grands have picked up on your joy.   Even little Nate developed a gr8 grampy smile.  I am so thankful God placed us together out of all the people in the world.  Saying I will always love you is an under statement.  I  am thankful for all our love letters to read again.  I know you are still with me, even though I can't see you, yet I know we will always be together for all eternity.  You left so many clues telling us you knew all along God was taking you with Him.  For you said in the hospital "It's so beautiful" talking to Rachel and the nurses.. Many clues since, including, 'I made it' in my own spirit.  I will do as you told me, I will " live, love, laugh a lot, and think of you.  I will do it with you".  I am sure the Big Bosses house is as beautiful as described.  He moved you from that mountain. " We decided on forever and always, Forever is too short with you. Sending condolences to all the Weavers. I met David when you guys came to our church in the early 60s. David had some surgeries, but he was always in good spirits about it. He always had a joke and an easy laugh. He was a great guy.

Dave was an amazing man , very colorful personality and always knew how to make you laugh . I remember when i was a kid he would always poke his dentures out to scare me , looking back its a silly thing to be afraid of but kids will he kids. Rest in peace dave up you will be greatly missed! ❤️🪽

Uncle Dave was the kind of man people hope to have in their lives. If you needed help, advice, encouragement, or just someone to show up, he was there. He simply cared about people, and he lived that every day.
Whenever I hear Tracy Lawrence's "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," I can't help but think of Dave: 
Somebody's gonna drop everything, Never stop to think "What's in it for me?" or "It's way too far" They just show on up With their big ol' heart. The line, "They just show on up with their big ol' heart," captures so much of who he was. He was the person who would answer the phone, lend a hand, or stand beside you when life got difficult. 
He didn't just talk about being there for people he lived it.His kindness, generosity, and willingness to put others first left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. The world is better because he was in it, and those lessons of compassion and selflessness will continue through the many lives he touched.My heart and prayers are with my aunt and our entire family. We will miss you deeply, Uncle Dave, but we are grateful for the example you set and the love you gave so freely. 
Thank you for always being the kind of man others could count on. You will never be forgotten.

I love you Uncle Dave, I have such good memories of you and Aunt Carolyn in Grand Prairie and the fun pool party and weiner dogs. You always had a sense of humor and loved to pop out your teeth 😂. You will be greatly missed but I know we will all be together again someday soon.

Part 2

He worked hard, but he loved the Lord even harder. No matter how tired he was from working all night, he was always at church, always serving wherever he was needed. We’d laugh when we’d see him on the choir platform with his eyes closed, looking like he might be asleep. We joked that he wasn’t sleeping—it was just the Spirit moving.

When my father-in-law passed away, Uncle Dave and my aunt were among the very first people to knock on our door. They didn’t just offer condolences—they offered their presence, and that meant everything. My husband loved Uncle Dave like a best friend and like the father he was blessed to have in his life.

He was a man who meant what he said and said what he meant. He knew when to play like a child and when to mean business. I remember the first time I was in the hospital as a little girl. My mom smiled and said, “Your Uncle Dave is coming to see you. At least he’ll make you laugh.” And he did, because that’s simply who he was.

He was there when each of my children was born. He never let any of us question whether we were loved. His love wasn’t something he just talked about—it was something he lived every single day.

He was a wonderful husband, an incredible father, a proud grandfather, and a faithful servant of God. His absence has changed our lives just as deeply as his presence blessed them. I could write pages upon pages of memories, and it still wouldn’t be enough to honor the impact he had on all of us.

Uncle Dave, thank you for loving us so well. Thank you for every laugh, every helping hand, every word of encouragement, and every example you set. You will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will think of you every day, and because of our hope in Christ, we know this isn’t goodbye forever.

Part 1 because 2000 characters just isn’t enough….

My Uncle Dave was one of the kindest, most generous, loving, and faithful Christian men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He wasn’t just my aunt’s husband—he was truly part of our family in every sense of the word. He was woven into my entire life, and I honestly can’t remember a time when he wasn’t there.

He was the kind of man you could always count on. He provided my husband with a job, helped us with our homes, helped us move, and showed up for every gathering, every celebration, and every time someone needed him. He always referred to us as “his kids,” and that’s exactly how he treated us. He was like another father to so many of us and another grandfather to my children. Losing him leaves a wound that words can’t fully express.

Growing up, our families were always together. My parents, my aunt, and Uncle Dave made life feel simple and full. We didn’t need extravagant birthday parties—just a homemade cake, our cousins, and the people we loved most. They were never just relatives; they were an extension of our own home. Looking back, those simple moments were some of the greatest blessings of my childhood.

Uncle Dave always had a joke ready. Every little kid was a “knucklehead,” and he’d stick his teeth out just to make us laugh. I remember helping my cousin pull off his work boots when he came home after a long day. As teenagers, we’d talk about everything while riding in the backseat of the car because we figured he couldn’t hear us anyway. Sometimes I think he was just pretending not to.

I miss you more then you can even begin to imagine. Life is different without you here. Oh, the things I would do to hear your voice, your laughter, your jokes and feel the warmth of your hugs one more time. 
Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
