Delbert “Bud” Durwood Baldwin, 88, entered this life February 22, 1926 in Fruitvale, Texas to Orion Holmes Baldwin and Mary Ethel Baldwin. He entered into rest July 19, 2014 in Coppell, Texas. Delbert; a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He was most recently a member of the Freetown Road Church of Christ, in Grand Prairie and attended the Tarrant Road \ Turnpike \ Cross Point Church of Christ also in Grand Prairie, for most of his adult life. Delbert was a true Texan, never wanting to go too far for too long away from his home state. He worked in retail grocery most of his life, and retired as a retail butcher. After retirement he enjoyed serving as a crosswalk guard for Larson Elementary. He loved woodworking and supplied lots of friends and family with wooden gliders and benches. Something he saw more as a peaceful hobby than a chore was when he was outside doing yard work. Delbert was often found in his yard, or in the yards of others, always helping those in his community. Not only was he always willing to help his community but country as well. He served in the US Army as a Sargent First Class during the Korean War. He is a lover of all creatures, but had a special place in his heart for his four legged friends. He always seemed to have one or two dogs at all times throughout his life. Delbert had such a great heart; he was profoundly devoted to taking care of Delbert Jr. “Del”, and was extremely active in the Mental Retardation Association as a volunteer and supporter.
