Dixie Pauline Green, 85, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on May 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 18, 1940, in Woodland, Texas, Red River County, to James Elmer Posey and Lillian Flora Baughier.
Dixie was raised in a large family alongside her siblings Elwood, Nina, Harry, Melba, Don, Betty, and Eugene. Dixie carried the values of love, hard work, compassion, and loyalty throughout her life. These attributes were the foundation that created the woman so many people admired and loved.
In 1955, Dixie married William Leroy Crews, and together they welcomed three sons; William, Charles and Mark. In 1975, she married Billy Green, and together they welcomed their son, David.
Outside her devotion for her family, Dixie enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved cooking and baking for her family, and her kitchen was often filled with laughter, homemade meals, and a glass of sweet tea nearby. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and estate sale shopping with her sister, Betty.
Dixie was a lifelong Texas Rangers fan, cheering them on from home. Her love of softball began as a young girl, later joining the Sweetheart Cup softball team in the early 1970's.
Dixie dedicated many years of service to Sweetheart Cup before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and quiet strength.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents, James Elmer Posey and Lillian Flora Baughier; her five brothers; her three sisters, her husbands, William Crews and Billy Green; and her beloved son Mark Crews.
Dixie is survived by her sons; William Crews, wife Denyse, Charles Crews, wife Sherry, and David Green; her beloved grandchildren Nicole, Kaylani, William, wife Rebecca, Jason, Amy and spouse Jackie, Krystal and spouse Jeremy, Skylar and spouse Olivia, and Trenton; along with 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many close nieces and nephews, extended family members and many dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love, kindness and warm spirit.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Chapel at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051. Funeral will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 9:30 AM, at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, 3001 South Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas.
