Domingo R. Rodriguez, age 73, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2019. He was born to Olivia and Nicolas Rodriguez on June 2, 1946 in Portland, Texas. Being raised in a small town with a large family, Domingo helped to provide by working in the cotton fields alongside many of his brothers and sisters during his youth. In seventh grade, he met his future bride, Elma, although at the time he did not know it but she did. He attended Gregory Portland High School for a short time before being drafted into the Army. The Army took him overseas to Germany where he served for two years during the Vietnam Era and upon his return he came back to marry his wife, Elma. Shortly after marriage, they moved to the Dallas area before settling in Grand Prairie. He worked for many years at American Body, ARA and finally retiring from Siemens Automation in Arlington.
Mingo enjoyed coaching his boys in soccer and softball, dancing cheek to cheek with his wife, beating everyone he ever played in checkers, and providing gossip to all who would listen. He absolutely loved his Texas Rangers and Kansas City Chiefs and loved to razz anyone who was a Cowboy fan, but above all he loved and cherished his family and friends. He was a gentle, kind, caring, compassionate, and loving husband, father and Popo. We will miss his smile, his jokes and one-liners, his hugs, his advice, his voice, his laugh and most of all him being here with us.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olivia and Nicolas Rodriguez, his sister JoAnn, and his daughter, Elissa Rodriguez.
