Donald "Donny" Bruce Axt
April 10, 1950 – January 12, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald “Donny” Bruce Axt in Grand Prairie at the age of 71. Donny was born on April 10, 1950 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Frederick Robert Axt and Valera Shadix Axt.
Donny graduated from Grand Prairie High School and was a lifelong Grand Prairie resident. Donny and his family owned the True Value Hardware Store from 1950 until 1998, and Donny was a community fixture to help others. He was always helping others and was a member of the Grand Prairie Lions Club. In his spare time, Donny was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and he had a passion for music and classic rock, as well as a love for his dogs. His greatest time he spent was with his family who he provided for and supported.
Donny, more affectionately known as Pops to his family, is survived by his two sons Coby Wayne Axt and Jeffery Bruce Axt; grandchildren Bruce Van Axt, Freyja Mae Axt, Dylan Vaughn Axt, and Spencer Valen Axt; a sister Constance Rebecca Axt; niece and nephew Merri R. Axt and Aaron Axt; and the mother of his children Nancy Jane Arrington. He is proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Frederick Ronald Axt.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home. A celebration of Donny’s life will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, also at the funeral home.
