Drena Edwards AKA “Miss Eddie” or “Aunt G” was born in Macabi Oriente, Cuba on August 26, 1926. She had a career in Nursing at Miller General Hospital in Southeast London as a Supervisor in the Dietary Department. She worked there for over 10 years while her daughter Beverley Edwards Walker went through school.
She was a member of Mona Baptist Church (Kingston, Jamaica) and August Town Mutual Relief Association and had a passion for gardening, taking care of her dogs and people. She made sure her friend Ms. Merkle had dinner to eat every day, because she didn’t have much. She made dogfood every day from chopped up chicken and cornmeal. She loved watching the Price is Right, Bold and the Beautiful (Ridge and Brook was her favorite couple) and Young and the Restless. She had mango trees (Julie and East Indian), orange trees, and let anyone pick from them. She loved candy, and her youngest grandchild would sneak jolly ranchers to her after her daughter said no.
She is survived by her children, Patrick Edwards and Beverley Edwards Walker; grandchildren, Samuel, Dwight, Michael, Debbie-Ann, Patrick, Jr. and Tahj; great-grandchildren, Marlon, Matthew, John-Mark, Lorraine and Dover; and great-great-grandchild, Yoland.
As the last surviving sibling, “Miss Eddie” is now in heaven with her other siblings now departed; Aunt Rose (Rosita), Aunt Mary “Mimi”, Aunt Kathleen, Uncle Henry, and Aunt Maudlin.
Graveside service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Antioch Life Cemetery.
