Vivian Eloise Naylor Mabry Fallis was born the 4th and last child of Carl H. and Ruby Thomas Naylor in Green Valley, rural land just north of Denton, Texas on November 9, 1929. Brothers were Carl Grady, Edward Leon, and Howard Dixie.
When Eloise was 3-4 years old, the family moved to another farm in west Texas near Slaton and far back off the road, adjacent to a canyon. Hard times were experienced there due to the Dust Bowl, Great Depression, and little income for sharecroppers like the Naylors.
Necessity demanded relocation, so the family moved to Grand Prairie in 1937 where the parents of Carl H. resided. Eloise entered 2nd grade in GPISD and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1947. She immediately enrolled in Draughon’s Business College in their Executive Secretarial program. Upon completion, she became a stenographer/secretary for 3 years with the American Red Cross field directors, assisting WWII veterans to receive their disability pensions.
Eloise married James Gilbert Mabry on February 14, 1950 and had two wonderful daughters: Julanna Gail in 1953 and Rhonda Lynette in 1956. She started a new job at Chance Vought as a secretary in 1950 where her husband, Gil, was a mechanical engineer. Eventually, after the company’s merger with Ling, Eloise found herself in the Marketing/Electronics Division which moved to Garland, Texas and became well known as E-Systems.
In 1966, Eloise started employment at the Graduate Research Center of the Southwest in Richardson, Texas. In 1969 this became The University of Texas at Dallas and she was Executive Assistant to UTD’s first Vice President for Business Affairs. Eloise and Gil were divorced in 1976. In 1985, Eloise married Stewart C. Fallis and retired from UTD. They lived together happily for 6 years until his death on April 13, 1991.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Ruby Naylor; 1st husband Gil Mabry; brothers Grady and his wife Waldene, Leon and his wife Jean, & Howard and his wife Joanne; her life-long best friend/”little sister” Patsy Ruth Black Williams and her husband Lewis.
She is survived by her beloved daughters Gail Hall and husband Ernie; Rhonda Heine and husband Johnny; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer Heine, Joey Longorio, Lanna Longorio, Charlie Heine, and Leslie Heine-Ramirez; numerous great-grandchildren; special cousin Borden Naylor, 2 nieces: Cyndy Taylor and Sandra Shelton; 6 nephews: Pat Powell, Carl V. Naylor, Steve Naylor, David Naylor, Brian Naylor, and Paul Naylor; and other great-nephews and nieces.
Eloise was a long-time active member of First Baptist Church Grand Prairie. She enjoyed family, yardwork and gardening, piano, latch-hook, and “old Gopher” luncheons.
