Emma moved to Denison, Texas as a teenager and spent much of her childhood taking care of her younger sibling. In her late teens she met Charles Robert Bryan. She often visited the store across from where he worked at and after watching her for some time, Charles finally asked her out. They were married July 29, 1949 and spent 51 years in love.
Emma was a small stature woman with a spit-fire nature. She raised 6 children and with her husband being a truck driver she developed a can do attitude. In her mind she could do anything that needed to be done. If you ever dared to tell her no or you cant do something she would prove you wrong. In 1956, the family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas and they bought their home in 1958. Emma enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking and doing yard work. Her specialties included German Chocolate Cake and homemade macaroni and cheese. Emma continued to mow her own lawn till the age of 85 and would climb her own roof to trim trees.
Emma was a caring but forceful woman, devoted wife and loving mother. She attended West Ridge Baptist Church when her children were young and collected jewelry and antique sewing machines. Later in life, Emma and Charles lived on the Texas side of Toledo Bend Lake and owned a store on the Louisiana side. In 1985 they retire, then when Charles got sick in 1995, Emma devoted herself to caring for him.
