

She was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on March 30, 1965 to Willie Celestine Sr. (deceased) & Dorothy Mae Lavergne of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Essie graduated from Washington-Marion High School in 1985 and received an architect degree from Xavier University of Louisiana. She was married to the late Cornelius (Chester) Lavine, Jr. on March 12th.
Essie had careers with OHM Corporation, City of Lake Charles Water Division as a foreman and mentor/lead at Wal-Mart. She had a passion for arts, music, gardening, and traveling. She loved life and spending time with her kids and family.
She is survived by Shaina D. Lavine-Parker (daughter) and Jeffery L. Parker (son-in-law), 4 grandchildren Xavier, Nathanael, Eliza, and Isaiah, 1 brother Willie Celestine, Jr. and 3 sisters Yvonne (Ernest) Garrick, Johanna Celestine, and Montesha (Lionell) Walker, also a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and longtime friends and co-workers who all loved, respected, and cared for her.
A celebration of Essie's life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, Grand Prairie.
