

Eula Willingham went to be with her Lord Friday September 28, 2012. She was born in Dallas, TX on July 27, 1909 to Leslie Claude and Mary Ellen Derr. Eula attended Maple Lawn Elementary all the way through high school. She was married June 7, 1941 to her husband of 32 years George Willingham. She enjoyed quilting and loved flowers and working in her garden with her husband. George would often give her iris’s and mums along with chocolate covered cherries. He also had a very unique nickname for Eula that was a story just between the two of them “Guernsey”. Eula never drove; if she wasn’t walking she always had a ride. One of the rides she got take was on a buckboard driven by horse in Grand Prairie before cars came around. She was a devoted Southern Baptist and loved the Dallas Cowboys, mainly for Tom Landry. Growing up through the depression, WWI and WWII she learned to keep everything, cause you just never know when you might need it. Being a lifelong member of the DFW area Eula saw many wonders such as Kennedy when he came through Dallas, the first plane to land in DFW airport. She was born in the original Parkland Hospital in Dallas, TX and belonged to 1st Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, Westridge Baptist Church, and Central Church. Where ever she was she taught Sunday school for 5 year olds. She also was on the Visitation committee at her church. She is preceded in life by her father Leslie Claude Derr, mother Mary Ellen Derr and husband George Willingham. She is survived by her daughter Betty Carroll, grandsons John Carroll, William Carroll and Richard Carroll. Great-grandson Matthew Richards, great-granddaughters Madison Carroll, Hydee Price and Samatha Miller. Visitation will be held Thursday October 4, 2012 from 6pm to 8pm at Bean Massey Burge on Dalworth St. Services will be held Friday October 5, 2012 at 11am at Bean Massey Burge Chapel followed by a graveside service at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, TX for interment.
