A funeral service for Evelyn will be held Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
Evelyn Loraine French was born on October 22,1924 to Vernon Frank Cline and Cora Rachel Cline (maiden name Snyder) at Manitou, Tillman County, Oklahoma. Her parents were migrant farm workers, moving from field to field. They would start work in the spring and finish after picking cotton in the fall. As a result, she would start school late.
Evelyn married Glen W. French on April 12, 1942. The two worked at Tinker Field, near Oklahoma City, during the World War II years. In 1953, they moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where they resided in the same house for 50 years. At the age of 65, Evelyn retired as an office worker from a life insurance company.
Evelyn's retirement years were well traveled. She purchased a custom van and traveled through many states. She had her 80th birthday in Italy and 85th birthday in Peru. She also traveled to Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
Evelyn was loved by her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews. She accepted her grandnieces and grandnephews as if they were her grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Glen; and her two sons, Edward and Larry.
Evelyn is survived by grandchildren, Cindy Baker and Philip French; as well as great-grandchildren, Luke Baker, Ty Baker, Schelly Bartels and Ashley Kontnier. Additionally, Evelyn is survived by nephews, Jack Sawyer, Dale Sawyer, Gary Don Sawyer and niece, Vicky Rupp; as well as great-nephews, Davin Sawyer, Derek Sawyer and Randall Staggs; and great-nieces, Rashelle McKim, Stefani Maupin, Rachel Hale, Ashlee Vidrine and Amber Johnston.
Our beloved Granny Reen has gone to be with her Lord and Savior and she will be missed and always remembered.
