I have been a member of GPFC for 35 yrs. When Evelyn first started attending I always noticed a smile upon her face every time I saw her. We became friends immediately as did many other church members. She was passionate, amazing, sweet, generous, and yes stubborn at times. When my dear mother passed I turned to a few elders to fill that gap and Evelyn was one. She would give the last dollar she had to someone that needed it . My husband and I loved her and she will be missed but we know that Momma Pat was there to greet her in heaven with a few others she knew in church. I will always have these fond memories and more of the Godly woman she was.

Evelyn was selfless, guileless, and held confidences inviolable. In short she was the friend we all desire. Reluctantly she accepted the assignment to lead the Food Pantry, and provided incomparable love and patience to clients and volunteers alike. She was faithful to come to Life Groups on Wednesday nights posing honest questions and answering with understanding when I called on her putting her on the spot. I can only imagine the kind of crossing guard she was, anxiously eyeing traffic to make safe her rowdy charges in their oblivious dance toward the schoolhouse doors. I will miss Evelyn. I will miss Evelyn’s humility. I will miss her habitual apologizing for which Carol created a swear jar making Evelyn pay 25 cents for each “I’m sorry.” We couldn’t alter that habit, but I am delighted to report that she is no longer “sorry. “
NIn her healed and new body she is confessing her blessedness in the presence of Jesus, who she knew here by faith. She will never never never ever be sorry for that day she took Jesus as her forever Savior. I am not sorry for her but for us who will miss her and try to carry on what she did so well.

I want to thank Evelyn for inviting me to come to the Grand Prairie Food Pantry and to join the Grand Prairie Church, Church of Nazarene. If it had not been for her, I would not have joined and become a pantry volunteer, too. I enjoyed time spent with Evelyn volunteering to help others at her food pantry, at least. we kindly think of it this way. I love you, Evelyn, Angel of God that we were loaned by GOD to be on Earth with us for such a short span of time. GOD Bless U as you are an Angel in Heaven, now, instead of on Earth.
