Fred Davy Knox

January 21, 1929October 12, 2020

Fred Davy Knox, age 91 passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020.

Fred Davy Knox was born on January 21, 1929 in Dublin, Texas. He moved to Grand Prairie as a teenager where he spent the rest of his life.

Fred was a proud Marine and loved his time as a Grand Prairie policeman. His real passion was trucking. He owned his trucking company for over 50 years, but he was always a truck driver at heart. His people were not his employees, for they were family to him.

He loved lake life, Fun Valley, cruises and his hometown Grand Prairie.

Fred always made you laugh with his priceless humor and quick wit. Everyone enjoyed just being around him and hearing his “Fred-isms”.

Above all, Fred loved Myrle, family and friends.

Fred is preceded in death by his First Wife, Phyllis Knox; Infant Daughter, Kristy Ann Knox; Parents, Dudley Knox and Corrilla Bell Knox; Sisters: LaVera Kimbrel and Jolly Rawlings; Brothers: Boyd “Sonny” Knox and Monte Knox.

He is survived by his wife, Myrle Knox; Sisters: Billy “Bee” Carder and husband, Henry, Ann Turk and husband, Gary; Brother, Dudley “Boy” Knox; Son, Fred Knox Jr. and wife, Debra Anderson; Daughter, Kandy Franklin and Husband, Val; Stepsons: Ricky Clark and Randy Clark. Grandchildren: Kacy Taylor, Austin Franklin, Brandy Clark, Ryann Vanoven, Marcus Deleon, Shelby Clark and Casey Clark, and nine Great Grandchildren.

Meant to say loyalty not Italy.

I worked for another trucking company when I first met Fred. He had offered to sell his company to the man I worked for on one condition. That was that we keep all his employees. Such Italy’s is seldom seen. Later when I was unemployed, Fred offered me an opportunity with him. I enjoyed working with him and how his employees respected him. Since we were both familiar with Dublin we developed a kinship knowing a lot of the same people. He always called “son”. The picture is how I will always remember him.

Kandy, I was so sad to hear about Freddy. I was on my way to a golf tournament out of town when Davie called and told me the news. I was out of town for both services and am sorry I missed them. Freddy was loved by all and had a long, full life with no regrets. He loved you and Fred, Jr., your kids, and his whole family. He was truly "Mr. Grand Prairie." Love to you and Jr. Marilyn
