It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Glenn Gough, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world on June 9, 2026. Born in the quaint town of Paris, Texas, on April 1, 1946, Gary was a man whose life was marked by kindness, compassion, and a deep devotion to his family and faith.
Gary was the cherished son of the late Raymond Paul Gough and Thelma Horton. He was preceded in death by his parents and paternal grandparents, Gilbert Goren Gough and Ada Legg, and maternal grandmother, Chaney Horton, who helped shape the caring individual he became. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pam Christian Gough, with whom he shared a beautiful journey of love and happiness since marrying on September 14, 2018, at the Freetown Road church of Christ in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Gary's life was blessed with a large and loving family. He leaves behind his brother Dwaine Gough and wife Rita, as well as his children: daughters Holly Russo and husband Chris, Gwynavier Gough, Maedie Gough; sons Jordan Gough and wife Sylvia Frejo, Charlie Gough. He also embraced his bonus children, Bobby Love and wife Jessica, Teresa Wilson and husband Chad, James Love, and cherished his bonus grandchildren, Nick Dunaway, Tyler Love and wife Hailey, Jonah Wilson and wife Adelle, and Addison Love. He did not get the opportunity to spend much time with his bonus great grandchildren, Sophie Love and Scotlyn Love, but he enjoyed them from afar seeing pictures and videos of them on social media. Gary’s life was further enriched by his many enduring friendships and his relationships with his brothers and sisters in Christ, who will miss him dearly.
A proud graduate of W. W. Samuel High School, class of 1964, Gary pursued further education at Paris Junior College and Dallas Baptist University. His dedication to serving his country was evident in his service in the United States Army reserves, where he was active for six months and continued as a reservist for seven years until his honorable discharge on July 31, 1975.
Gary's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. His first job was at TEMCO as a machine operator. He then managed Pizza Hut at several locations throughout the DFW area. He served as a vehicle machinist superintendent at Poly America. He retired from Frito Lay after several shoulder rotator cuff surgeries. Even after retirement, Gary found joy in driving a school bus for Grand Prairie, a testament to his lifelong commitment to helping others.
A man of many interests, Gary loved fishing in his younger days and had a passion for playing the piano, even composing a boogie-woogie song. His adventurous spirit saw him owning several motorcycles over the years, although he eventually traded in his last three-wheeler after marrying Pam, who preferred more grounded adventures. Ever the culinary enthusiast, Gary enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes. If you ever spoke to him for any length of time, he always shared with you the latest dish that he had made.
Gary's faith was a cornerstone of his life. An active member of the Freetown Road church of Christ, he served as a youth teacher and trustee, contributing significantly to the community, including the sale of the church building.
Those who knew Gary will remember him as a kind, compassionate Christian man who was always smiling. His love for Pam was profound, and the last eight years of his life were filled with happiness and contentment.
Family visitation will be June 14, 2026, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A service to honor Gary’s life will be held on June 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Both will be at the Grand Prairie Funeral Home located on 733 Dalworth, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Arbrook Plaza for the care and kindness shown to Gary in his final days.
Though Gary has left this earthly realm, his spirit and the love he shared will remain forever in our hearts.
