George Louis (Buddy) Davis was born in Huntsville, AL to Louis George Davis and Lillie May Yarbrough Davis on February 11, 1927. Buddy was a proud Veteran who served in the Viet Nam war. He joined the Air Force in 1946 when he was 19 years old and remained part of the military until the mid-1970's. Buddy married Lillie Earlene Brown Davis July 18, 1947 and had two children. The family moved from Alabama to Texas in 1963 where they have made their home since then. He has been a member of the First Congregational Church since 1964.
After retiring from his route sales job he worked delivering cars all over the United States until he had an on-the-job fall in 2014 that ended his working career.
Buddy was a baseball player and played on many city and church teams along with his son. He was a bowler who won many trophies. He also played guitar and sang with the Sunshine Band entertaining all over the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and his son, Danny Ray Davis who passed away in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Earlene, his daughter Gay and her husband Claude Dunn. He has four grand sons, Rex (Amanda) and Billy (Brandy) Dunn, and Chris (Courtney) and Greg (Shannon) Davis. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Abigail, Jackson, Gabriella, Sophia, Liam and Avery Dunn; John-Wesley, Liam, Clara, Wyatt and Jack Davis, numerous other family members and friends.
Surrounded by his family and Hospice, Buddy passed away at home December 6, 2018. Visitation will be Sunday, December 9 between 2:00 and 4:00 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home,
2951 South Belt Line Road, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052. Service will be Monday, December 10 at 2:00 at the same location. Burial will be at Southland Memorial Park.
