OBITUARY

Henry Clarence Grider Jr

May 3, 1946January 1, 2019

Henry 'Clarence' Grider Jr. was born to his father, Henry Clarence 'Son' Grider, and his mother, May Bell Himes-Grider, on May 3, 1946 in Dallas, Texas.

Clarence made his home in Grand Prairie, Texas his entire life and graduated from Grand Prairie HS in 1964. From there he joined his beloved United States Marine Corps and served honorably during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged but in keeping with the Marine motto - Semper Fidelis - he was faithful to the Corps and always considered himself "Once a Marine, Always a Marine".

He served as a Grand Prairie Police Department reserve officer from 1968-1975, rising to the rank of Lieutenant.

Clarence married his best friend, Karen, on July 11, 2017.

Clarence was previously married for over 25 years and had three girls that he loved to the end - Carmen, Carrie, and Caseye.

For the last 11 years Clarence has owned G. Willickers Pub in Arlington, Texas. Before that he was a successful Vice-President of Sales for TomCo Services.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Grider; three daughters, Carmen Grider-Luke and her husband Charles, Carrie Grider-Thompson and her husband Paul, and Caseye Grider-Smith and her husband Jason; eight grandchildren – Cayden, Carson, Jacy, Codi, Matthew, John, Tyler and Connor; his sister, Linda Tinnerman and his brother, Danny Grider and his wife Kathy, and a host of nieces and nephews as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, May Bell, and his father, Son, and his two sisters Gwen Grider-Howell and LaWanna Grider.

Clarence was a Christian and loved his Lord. He was forever young; lived life to the fullest; never met a stranger; loved his Dallas Cowboys and his rescue dog, Sonny. He was loved by all. Gone too soon but will never be forgotten. Forever in our hearts!

The family will receive guests Saturday, January 5, 2019, beginning at 1pm, at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home, 2951 S Belt Line Rd, Grand Prairie, Tx. The funeral services will begin at 2pm.

My heart breaks for your family, I am so sorry for your loss. Clarence was one of the most kind and noble gentlemen I’ve ever met in my life. He had a huge heart for humans and animals and treated both very well.
To the family I send my deepest condolences. Karen, I’m thinking of you and the entire Grider family. Praying for comfort and peace. Grider strong!
RIP Clarence until we meet again.

Karen, The boys and I are thinking of you and keeping you in prayer. So sorry for your loss. We were so happy for you when we saw you were getting married. Of course, the boys were surprised and just kept saying Aunt Karen, really. Was so great to see you happy. You could tell the love you had for each other in pictures. That love will always be with you just like Clarence will be. You will forever be in our hearts and prayers.

I worked at G’s for 7 years and the first memory I had of Clarence who was a customer at that time, was he always stood in the same spot at the bar. No one dared stand there
He bought G’s after Vince and I moved away
We would come back as often as possible and he was always there with a big hug and a smile
Karen was and is a very good friend and I was so very happy that they found each other after so many years
My hope is that God will wrap you in his embrace and lead you thru the hard days ahead. Clarence, we will meet again my friend. Love you.

I had the pleasure of meeting this amazing man and his most beloved wife at G Willickers nearly 10 years ago. I met my husband and best friend through that place, and never had an unpleasant encounter. He was always ready with a smile and a big bear hug. He made such a lasting impression and will be so incredibly missed... much love to the family. <3

My heart breaks for the Grider family. I've had the pleasure of getting to know many of you, over the years, because of Clarence. I'm a proud member of his G's family, for over 13 years, and I will miss that larger than life personality and huge smile walking thru that door and making his rounds to give out those awesome big hugs and handshakes. G's will never be the same....

My love, thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. RIP Bub... I love you dearly, and will never forget you.
