

Herman Shelby Conger went to be with his Lord February 25, 2013 in Grand Prairie, TX. Born August 9, 1928 in Howe, TX to Willie Clinton "Bill" and Bessie Conger. At the age of 2 his family moved to Amarillo for a few years before returning to Howe After his father passed away, he was only able to complete the 8th grade before leaving school to support his family while his brothers were away at war. Even though he left school early Herman was a very bright man. In 1952 he married the love of his life Patsy and started a family of his own. He was a loving, caring man who devoted his life to working hard for his family. He had strong values when it came to a good days work. "You don't get anything for free." When not working his attention went to his family, whether a Conger Reunion, raising grandchildren or just spoiling them, family always came first to Herman. He idolized his grandchildren and great grandchildren, letting them get away with more than his children would growing up. When his children would ask or point an instance out he would simply say "well it didn't do any good with you." Described as the ultimate family man, a wonderful teacher and a hard worker. Later in life he enjoyed watching baseball at home with his wife Patsy. He is preceded by his parents Willie Clinton "Bill" Conger Jr. and Bessie Mae Conger; siblings J.T Conger, Willie Clinton Conger Jr, Lula Mae Conger, Harold Gene Conger, Betty Conger and Daril Conger; daughter Elizabeth Janell Conger.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Conger; children Deborah Lynn Harper (David), Rebecca Ann Moore (Edward), James Herman Conger, Laura Jane Hobgood (John); grandsons Matthew and Andrew Hellar; brother Jesse Joe Conger; sister Eva Earlene Hicks; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
