J L Richard, 85, of Grand Prairie, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Funeral service will be at 9:00am Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, with Rev. Dan Richard, Rev. Mike Richard, and Rev. Sid Chatterjee officiating over the service. Burial will follow at the DFW National Cemetery.

J L Richard was born June 25, 1932 to Troy and Della (Jones) Richard in Killeen, Texas. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy, on the ship U.S.S. Walke in the Korean War. He was an active member of Radiant Life Assembly of God Church in Grand Prairie. He married Johnnie G. Cupit, On June 28th, 1952, in Long Beach, California.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Floyd, Lloyd, and Cecil, Sisters – Peggy, Della Faye Suggs, and the love of his life, Johnnie G. (Cupit) Richard, one son-in-law Kenny Sanders. Survivors are sons, Mike and Danny Richard, daughters, Linda Taylor, DeAnn Sanders, and Julie Bethel, daughters-in-law, Diana and Shelia Richard, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

So many memories of a wonderful family. JL and Johnnie were very special people. They raised a wonderful family. Sorry we were not able to attend the funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My deepest condolence to all the family. JL was like family to me. He attended the nutrition program for years. My son Francisco and his grandson played football and we were a Gopher family also.
