James William Lewallen

James William Lewallen passed away June 6, 2014. He was born September 14, 1943 in Mineral Wells, TX to Truman and Willie Lewallen.James grew up in Grand Prairie, TX. He graduated from the 8th grade at Florence Hill Grade School. After graduation he started working in a 2-way radio company. While in school he met and started dating Phyllis Brooks. They were married in March 2, 1962 and after the birth of their first daughter they moved to Arlington, TX. James began his career in the cabinet building industry shortly after they moved. He was a dedicated employee, almost considered a work-a-holic. Not because he would rather work but because he wanted to make sure his family was provided for. Family was the most important thing to James. Love is not even a strong enough work to describe how he felt about his wife and children.James enjoyed building and racing cars, watching NASCAR and going to Traders Village and yard sales. He liked to go country dancing with his wife, and Halloween was a big deal. Every year he would spend a large amount on candy and transform his house into a Haunted House. People would travel from all over just to go inside; there were a few years where the family had to help direct traffic. Even when it was not Halloween he was considered the neighborhood grandpa. Overall, James was loving and out-going with a great smile and mustache to match, who could fix just about anything.He is preceded in death by his father Truman William Lewallen; mother Willie Ethal Fuller; step-father Alvie Kincaid; sister Lola Kalmus and great-grandson Mackell Glasco.James is survived by his wife of 52 years Phyllis Lewallen; children Anita Bristow, Mickey Lewallen and wife Jayne, Jamie Curry; grandchildren Renee Lewallen, Jennifer Glasco, Daniel Bristow, Maeghen Hicks, Justin Lewallen, Kayli Lewallen, Ashleigh Curry, Bobbie Lewallen, Joshua Lane, Ally Nix; 24 great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Meredith and husband Carl; mother-in-law Betty Jo Brooks and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws.
