Jamie was born on September 25, 1948, to Seth Corley and Maxine Akers Corley in Cameron, Texas. Jamie graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1967 and attended Sam Houston State University.
Jamie married Scott Donaldson in 1968 and they were together for 53 years and were blessed with two daughters, Stacey and Martie. Jamie was a homemaker for much of her early marriage and later worked in the luxury hotel and hospitality industry as a Sales Manager. She worked for Sheraton Grande, Small Luxury Resorts and she retired from Rosewood Properties in 2003. Her career allowed her to visit many amazing locations around the world and some of her favorites were Cannel Bay, Virgin Gorda and St. Kitts in the Caribbean. Jamie and Scott also enjoyed traveling together and were fortunate to have experienced many wonderful destinations together such as London, British Virgin Islands, Cabo San Lucas, Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta and many places across the US.
Jamie enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of First Baptist Church, the Grand Prairie Women’s Club and other social organizations. She was always a GP Gopher at heart and stayed close with her “Gopher Girl” friends over the years. Jamie was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) 19 years ago and this brought many challenges and limited some of her activity, but she was not one to complain and had strength and fortitude that amazed us all. She loved listening to music, and it was difficult for her when she lost her hearing years ago. Fortunately, she was able to have cochlear implant surgery, which allowed her to hear sounds, but the musical harmony wasn’t translated, so she often said she would rely on her memory when she recognized a song so she could still feel enjoyment from those old melodies she loved.
Jamie was a loving and caring mother and was forever present in her daughters’ lives. She knew just the right balance for offering advice and support without overstepping and would never hesitate to help with whatever request was made.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, Jackson and Cade and made wonderful memories over the years. From taking them to Disney World, road trips to Colorado and visiting Fossil Rim Wildlife Park in Glen Rose, Mimi (Jamie) and Poppy (Scott) loved those precious experiences with the boys. Mimi and Poppy were also their #1 fans at all of their baseball games, football games and musical events.
Jamie was preceded in death by her husband, Scott; her sister, Jennylee Corley; and parents, Maxine and Seth Corley.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Donaldson Harycki and husband, Jim Harycki of Flower Mound; daughter, Martie Donaldson of Grand Prairie; and grandchildren, Jackson and Cade Harycki of Flower Mound.
All that we love deeply becomes part of us - Jamie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend - her spark was felt by many and her spirit will live on in our memories forever!
