

JC was born to Louis and Ester Bryan in Mesquite, TX on December 11, 1931. He moved to Grand Prairie in 1947. He graduated from Grand Prairie High in 1949, he attended Texas A&M College where he was in the Corps of Cadets, graduated in 1953. He served in the Army 1953-55. While stationed at Ft. Benning, GA he met his future wife, Nan Newsome. They married in 1954 and moved back to Grand Prairie and he began his insurance career with John Hancock. Over the years he earned the distinction of Certified Life Under-writer (CLU), a complete alphabet of certifications.In his industry, he served as the Moderator of Life Underwriters Training Council (LUTC) and in 2005 earned the highest service award, the Ed Zelinsky Award. He was a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Outside of his profession, he enjoyed working behind the scenes on local political campaigns and served for years as a precinct chairman.He had a strong commitment to his duties as a director of the Way Back House, spending his time collecting clothing for ex-convicts who were integrating back into the community. He held numerous offices as a member of the Dal-Cliff Lions Club. He served these organizations faithfully for decades. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in GP for 65 years. Over the years he served as elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member, chairman of the building committee and youth leader.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Ben and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Nan; sons Alan and wife Swannee, Doug and wife Sue; grandchildren McKenzie, Sydney, Cole and wife Aalee, Jaci; daughter-in-law Marsha Bryan Edwards; sister Jeannine Johnson and brother Wayne Bryan and wife Mimi.
