

Jimmie Leroy Newton passed away April 24, 2016. He was born in Paradise, Texas on January 27, 1932 to Roy and Maudina Newton. Jimmie grew up in Paradise and Bridgeport, Texas. In 1950 he graduated from Bridgeport High School and began attending Tarrant County Junior College. In 1952 Jimmie was drafted in the U.S Army where he served 2 years. Jimmie was a kind, considerate, soft spoken man who loved his family. In September of 1972 a friend set him up on a blind date with Jimmie Gayle Ray. Six months later on April 20, 1973 they were married. They moved to Arlington, Texas for 17 years then settled in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1990. Jimmie was a member of Freetown Road Church of Christ who had a passion for traveling and music. As a young man he was in a band and has enjoyed Johnny High Country Music and Bluegrass. When traveling he enjoyed taking cruises and being close to the ocean. Jimmie was a loving husband, patient father and supportive friend who lived for Christ and his family. Jimmie is preceded in death by his mother Maudina Adams Newton, father Roy Judson Newton and son James Michael Newton. He is survived by his wife Jimmie Gayle Newton; children: Cheryl Steele and her husband John, Debi Wehmeier and her husband Lloyd, Chuck Winn; grandchildren: Michael Steele and his wife Kim, Corey Steele and his wife Kasey, Ashley Danuser and her husband David; great-grandchildren: Cassidy Steele, Chase Steele, Bryce Steele, Braden Steele, Cooper Steele, Lance Danuser; sister Wanda Gachter and her husband Clyde, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Bean Massey Burge Funeral Home at 9:30am with interment to follow at DFW National Cemetery at 11:15am.
