Jimmie Russell Webb, affectionately known as “Rusty", 67, passed away November 14, 2019 at his home. He was born May 23, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James Henry Webb, Jr. and Marie S. Webb. Rusty was retired after teaching many years in Louisiana and Dallas. He was a graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from LSUS and received his Master’s Degree from Auburn University. He was fluent in Spanish and French. He was a devoted teacher and cared for each and every student he taught, always going the extra mile. Many of “his kids” knew him as a great supporter of the sports programs in school, and he was always there cheering them on. Rusty was an avid fan of college and professional sports teams and shared that love with friends. He really never met a stranger; and with charm, wit, and a genuine caring heart, he made many lifelong friends. Rusty was a friend to many. He freely gave his love and time to his friends. He was always willing to help someone in need. He truly had a heart of gold. He was full of life, ready to make you laugh or share a joke but always there to give you a shoulder to lean on. A casino trip was a passion for him. He loved taking friends or meeting them there to have a great time, and if he won, he generously paid for dinner but even if he didn’t win he would generously cover it. Rusty was loved by so many and touched so many lives with his gentle and kind ways that he will be greatly missed but will always live in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by James Henry Webb, Jr. and Marie S. Webb, his parents; and infant brother, Jeffrey.
Survived by his brother, Eric Webb and wife Carita (Mesquite, Texas); niece, Haley Bassman and husband Bryan Bassman (Dallas, Texas); nephew, Joseph Webb and wife Michelle; great-nephews, Carson Webb and Landon Webb (Mesquite, Texas); Aunt Louise Porter (Arrington, Tennessee); extended family, Beth McCarty, Beverly Williams (Shreveport, Louisiana), Estylene Dorton (Denison, Texas), Robert (Robbye) and Karen Bond (both of Grand Prairie, Texas), Larry and Lois Anderson (Shreveport, Louisiana), and many friends, students, and colleagues.
