My father , my dad, our Papa. 

Thank you for being my dad,   You are dearly missed.   You had been a strength of perseverance, determination, and dedication to my family.   I am blessed to have called you dad and Papa.   You had one of the Greatest teachers your mom - Granny.    Dad you always wanted me to look on the bright side of life.   You never gave up on me.  

I was thinking about the life process.  Imagine the beginning of life as being a caterpillar.    One would go through life just inching around day after day.    Towards the end of  physical life,  the caterpillar becomes a cocoon.    It is when we pass onto eternal life , that this slow inching day by day caterpillar bursts out of its shell.    It becomes a beautiful butterfly.  This is now you papa.    Your wings have spread, you are able to go and free .    Fly, fly away .   Be free.  

I love you dad, you are greatly missed.   Give kisses to mom for me. 

My Papa,
I will miss the way you dipped your French fries in the ketchup packet after you tore the perfect fry size slit in it.   The way you blared Dolly Parton from your speakers that I loved to poke holes in. The way sweet tea would make you so happy, we would find any reason to go get some. The way you loved to be tickled on your face with a candy wrapper.  The way you would tell me to look a word up in the dictionary, when I did not even know how to spell it, but you knew there was a lesson to be learned.   I will forever miss  when we would go to the fair and spend hours picking the perfect geode.   Even though you couldn't walk then, and I am sure you were in a lot of pain, you Never let it show.   Despite the circumstances of your health and pain, you were always happy, positive and strong.
  I will miss the summer in North Carolina when I got my  permit and would drive for miles and miles getting lost in the scenery.  Then we actually got lost!   But you said, " We aren't lost until we run out of gas."    As we drove you would tell me stories of your childhood on the farm and how you got sprayed by a skunk. Your mom tried everything to get the smell out, oatmeal baths , tomato baths  but nothing worked.  Except Time.   You were so interesting to me.  You lived a life and had seen amazing things that I can only imagine.  Even as  a bratty teenager you were always there for me.   
As I have grown, I've gone through many trials of my own.  After watching you go through yours, I knew I could be stronger.   You made me want to be better, positive and always find the light in a dark place.  To always be humble and kind... like you.   
I am so grateful I got to see you and my daughters got to tickle your arm and feed you M&M's.   Even though our visit was too short I will hold the love you showed us for a lifetime. 
I'm sure you are enjoying sweet tea on a porch swing now with the best view i can not imagine, no longer in pain and perfectly at peace.  I love you
