

Joanne grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Adamson High School in 1948. ln 1950, she married Zaven (Chuck) Chutchian and they raised two sons, Steven and Mark, in Grand Prairie. ln the 1960's she attended Arlington College (UTA), majoring in lnterior Design and also worked for the Grand Prairie Daily News as a special feature writer highlighting interior spaces of homes in Grand Prairie. She also provided sketches for advertisers, especially clothing store ads. Later, she was an lnterior Designer for Adleta Design Group in Dallas and an art consultant for Multiple Originals lnc.
Joanne was active in various clubs such as the LTV Engineers Wives Club and the Rejebian Book Club and also active in school PTAs and the First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie. Joanne was an avid traveler, with family vacations all over the United States.
After 25 years, Joanne lost her husband Chuck, who passed away from a sudden heart attack in 1975. She remarried in 1982 to Ted Sandelius and they moved to Arlington, Texas. They also had a summer home in Burlington, Wisconsin at Brown's Lake, and they expanded on Joanne's passion for travel with many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, French Canada, Hawaii and Alaska.
Joanne is survived by sons, Steven Chutchian & wife, Betsy, son Mark Chutchian (wife Lee Ann, deceased 2018); granddaughters Rachel Gilbert & husband Craig, Cara Zmolik & husband Jared; grandsons Ross Chutchian, Matthew Chutchian & wife Shelby; great granddaughters, Madison Gilbert, Ryleigh Zmolik, Sydney Zmolik; great grandson Reed Gilbert.
The family will have a private gathering to celebrate Joanne's life. Please, no flowers or plants. Donations are not necessary, but if you desire, please send them to your favorite charity in her memory.
