John Michael Gundy

John Michael Gundy, age 79, of Irving, Texas, passed away on August 23, 2025. He was born on December 27,1945 in Gary, Indiana, and pursued his education at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he earned his MBA.

John dedicated his career to the field of group and pension insurance. He worked for Lincoln National Insurance and later owned and operated Business Insurance Group. His commitment to his profession and clients was well respected throughout his career.

On April 23, 2022, John married the love of his life, Lila Gundy, and they shared three wonderful years together.

Beyond his professional achievements, John had many passions. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golf and baseball, and was a proud supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.

John will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love for his family, and the joy he found in sports. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his wife Lila Gundy; Nieces/ nephews Dana Mihaly (John), Peter Gundy Jr (Marian Walsh), EB Rayburn IV, Zach Rayburn (Karyn Rayburn), Erin Gundy Yeoman (Brian Knight), Dale Gundy (Tracy), and Rebecca Gundy

John is preceded in death by his parents John Reuben Gundy and Ellenor Joanne Brown Gundy; siblings Kathleen Francis Rayburn, Mark Edward Gundy, and Peter Gerard Gundy.

A visitation for John will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM with a service at 3:00 PM in the chapel at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
