John proudly served his country in both the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard. His dedication to serving others was a reflection of the strength, commitment, and sense of duty he carried throughout his life.
Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a hard worker who took pride in providing for his family and doing things the right way. He was respected by many and deeply loved by those fortunate enough to know him.
John was his children’s biggest fan and their constant source of encouragement and pride. He celebrated their accomplishments as though they were his own, always cheering them on and believing in them every step of the way. Among his greatest achievements in life were watching his daughter, Jennifer graduate from college and witnessing his son, Joshua’s military service. Nothing made John prouder than the people his children became.
John had a special place in his heart for fishing, especially when he could share it with his favorite fishing buddy—his dad, Marvin. Now, we can imagine John fishing on the great river in the sky alongside his dad once again, with his beloved dog, Pepper, finally back by his side. Perhaps Pepper is still running around and scaring all the fish away, while John and his dad laugh and joke about it just as they always did. For John, it was never only about catching fish; it was about the companionship, the laughter, and the memories made along the way.
John leaves behind more than a list of accomplishments. He leaves behind the sound of his laughter, the stories he told, the lessons he taught, and countless memories that will be shared for generations. His family and friends will remember his hard work, his love, his sense of humor, and those ordinary moments that became precious simply because John was there.
While John will be deeply missed, those who loved John can take comfort in knowing that his memory will live on—in the stories told around the table, in family gatherings, and perhaps even on a quiet fishing day when someone looks at the water and remembers him.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; daughter, Jennifer; sons, Joshua (Shawna), Phillip, and Michael. His five grandchildren; Trinity, Christian, Anna, Drayven, Brock (Emliy) and Lynn Marie and his great-grandchild, Jax. He also leaves behind sister-in-law, Corrine; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and the crew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin; mother, Jeannine; sister, Peggy (Dave); brother-in-law, Norman; Nephew Brad and Steve and Joey from the crew.
John will be laid to rest in service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, dates to be announced at a later time.
