You are and will always be the best of us. You had a kind spirit and always helped out, you were one of the best troopers with kids and people of all ages. You gave to your friends endlessly, even when you didn't need and you just loved people. Over the years, you always teased and told me that you were going to go on first dates with me - to vet whoever the new guy was. I'll cherish and miss your goofy grin, your silly jokes, and the big bear hugs. Even if time passed, months between seeing each other or talking, it was like no time passed at all. There's a Big John hole in our world now, and you leave behind a family, a Squad, a Garrison, Legions and so many friends who will always remember your legacy - the Chewbacca with the biggest heart. Love you John - "I'm one with the Force and the Force is with me."

Our hearts are broken, but our memories are full of wonderful times. You were the best of all of us. The best and most giving friend any of us could ask for. We always said you did not need to, but you said you wanted to give, and you did, and did, and did. The best crew guy we could ever ask for. The best Chewbacca we could ever ask for. You were the best prankster, best silly gift giver, an amazing foodie with an incredible talent for finding and preparing meats, cheeses, drinks, and more. You will forever be in our hearts. Every gig. Every troop. Every family get together. You changed all of us for the better. We will keep your spirit alive by trying to treat people as you did us. Thank you Big John! I love you brother! I will miss you every day. Until we see each other again. One more wookiee hug for a buddy?

John was the most welcoming guy I have ever met. I was blessed to know and troop with him as a member of the 501st Legion. He always had a kind word to say and treated me as if he had known me my whole life the first time I met him. He was always kind and willing to help out everyone. He will be greatly missed.

I have met John several time while trooping with the Rebel Legion. He was always so nice. May God be with his friends and family during this difficult time. I was recently honored to troop with him.
