John grew up in Plano, TX where he graduated from Plano High School. When he was 22years old he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served 2 years. On May 7, 1965 he married Sue Trimble and they celebrated 49 years together.
John was a loving husband and father, who was a good provider for his family. He retired from ABF Freight Lines after 35 years. He enjoyed welding and working with wood. He was a jack of all trades who would do anything, especially if you told him he couldn’t do something. He could be very stubborn in that sense, but was mostly a happy person. John would start a conversation with anyone willing to talk back. He was very easy going and never met a stranger. John will be deeply missed and forever loved.
He is survived by his wife Sue Spurgin; children Bobby Spurgin, Sandy Benko and her husband Martin; grandchildren Zachary Robinson, Jacob Robinson, Matthew Benko; great-grandson Aiden Alexander Robinson; brothers Don Spurgin and his wife Betty, Doyle Spurgin; sisters Kay Bailey and her husband Fred, Pricilla Vincent; sister-in-law Vic Chandler and brother-in-law Gene Crain.
