After graduating from High School, Johnny served in the US Air Force for 4 years, achieving the rank of Airman Second Class. After the military, Johnny worked for the US Postal Service in Oakland, CA for 35 years. Johnny loved to fish every chance he had, finding it a great way to relax. He would also tinker with the cars in his garage from time to time.
Johnny is preceded in death by wife, Barbara Jeans Bowens; son, Donahue Bowens; step-son, Renard Duckett; parents, Grover and Lily Bowens; and sister Helen Bowens.
He is survived by his sons, Lonnie and wife Patricia Bowens; Marvis Bowens, Craig Bowens; and sister Sarah Bowens. Grandchildren: Jermaine Duckett, Jamall Bowens, Donahue Bowens, Jr., Myisha Bowens and Joseph Bowens.
A Memorial Service for Johnny will be held on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth Street, Grand Prairie, TX 75050.
