Judy Lee Wilkinson

Judy was born in Van Zandt county to Audie Lee and Lorene Horn on May 20,1941. She was proceeded in death by her husband, John Wilkinson, of 38 years, daughter Tracy Wilkinson, brother Paul Horn, brother-in-law Melvin Haar, and sister-in-law Carolyn Horn.

Judy is survived by her brothers Wayne, and wife Margie, Jerry, and wife Mimzi, and Ronnie, and her sister Dianne Haar and a host of nieces and nephews. She loved her family and hosted many holiday gatherings.

Judy was a member of the Church of Christ.

Judy graduated Salutatorian of her class from Seagoville High School. She continued her education earning a BS in Education from Abilene Christian University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and a MS in History from Southwest Texas State University. She was a public educator in Texas for over 30 years, teaching in Irving, Del Valle, San Marcos, and Grand Prairie. In addition to teaching, Judy also coached many academic and debate teams, having one student win the UIL State Championship twice. She was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the Grand Prairie National Honor Society and received the Outstanding Teacher Award three times from the Texas State Teachers Association. She was also selected for the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Outstanding Female Educators and served as their Vice President.

Funeral services will be held on March 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Grand Prairie Funeral Home, 733 Dalworth St, Grand Prairie, TX with Wes Horn, her nephew, officiating. There will be no graveside service. You are invited to visit with family and view the body before services.
