On June 6, 2023, he passed away. He emigrated to the United States, through New York City, New York, at age 16, and lived with his uncle. After living and working in New York for a few years, he became a naturalized citizen. He was drafted in the Army, trained in the electrical and technical field at West Point, stationed in Fort Dix, Stuttgart, Germany, and finally Fort Riley, Kansas. Upon discharge, he obtained employment at the Board of Public Utilities, as an engineer in Kansas City, Kansas, for 25 years. During that time, he rose up to the ranks of Control Room Supervisor before retiring. After 9-11, when Ada was transferred to Dallas with US Airways, now American Airlines, Texas became the new home for them. He then went on to work as an engineer with Vought Aircraft (now known as Triumph Industries) for 10 years before retiring again. He was also promoted to supervisor early on in this employment.
He became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
He loved gardening, camping, cooking, and most of all, travelling. When time allowed, the happy couple traveled throughout the U.S. visited national parks, soaked in mineral salt baths, and enjoyed various beaches.
Upon retiring, Ada and Ken travelled all over the world to such diverse places as: Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, China, South America, Russia, Middle East and South Africa.
He leaves to mourn: wife of 34 years, Ada French-Goring in Grand Prairie, Texas; children, Wendell (Yvonne) Prosper, Texas, Annette (Ahmed) Irving, Texas, Joann (Troy) Fort Myers, Florida, and Melvin (Ceah) Omaha, Nebraska; and two grandsons, William in Fort Myers, Florida, and Melvin French III in Kansas City, Missouri; his sisters, Denise, Miriam, Merle, and Sharon; his brothers, Merrill and Ian, Ms. Joann Goring; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, relatives, and neighbors.
Above all, Kenneth loved his family and was a hard worker especially around his home and yard.
He will be deeply missed as the very heart of this family.
